At Companion Animal Alliance, we believe the next generation of animal advocates plays an important role in creating a more compassionate community. Our youth programs provide opportunities for children and students to learn about animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and the important work of caring for homeless pets.

Through hands-on learning experiences and educational programs, we help young people develop empathy, compassion, and a better understanding of the human-animal bond.

Summer Camp

CAA’s Summer Camp gives young animal lovers the opportunity to learn, explore, and make a difference. Campers participate in age-appropriate activities focused on animal care, shelter operations, pet wellness, and responsible pet ownership. Through crafts, games, enrichment activities, and behind-the-scenes learning, campers gain a deeper appreciation for the work involved in helping animals in our community.

Youth Volunteering

We love seeing young people who are passionate about helping animals! Due to the nature of shelter work and the need to ensure the safety and well-being of both animals and volunteers, youth volunteer opportunities are limited and may vary based on age, supervision requirements, and current shelter needs.

Field trips

CAA welcomes schools, youth groups, and community organizations for educational visits designed to introduce students to animal welfare and shelter operations. Field trips may include lessons on responsible pet ownership, animal care, careers in animal welfare, and the many ways our community can support homeless pets.

Programs are tailored to the age group and learning goals of each group. Availability is limited and scheduled based on staff capacity and shelter operations. Please email programs@caabr.org to learn more.

Our youth programs are designed to inspire the next generation of animal advocates through education, hands-on learning, and compassionate action.
