Whether you've found a lost pet, need help with your own pet, or are looking for resources to care for community cats, Companion Animal Alliance is here to help.

Companion Animal Alliance is contracted by East Baton Rouge Parish to provide municipal animal sheltering services. As the parish's municipal animal shelter, CAA is responsible for accepting and caring for all stray, unwanted, displaced, and surrendered animals, as well as animals seized by Animal Control.

In addition to providing shelter for animals in need, CAA offers a variety of programs and resources designed to support pet owners, improve animal welfare, and keep pets with the families who love them whenever possible. Whether you're searching for a lost pet, have found a stray animal, need assistance with your own pet, or are caring for community cats, we're here to help connect you with the right resources.

Pet surrender

We understand that unexpected circumstances can make it difficult to continue caring for a pet. Our team can help you explore available resources and discuss the best options for your situation. Because we are an open-admission municipal shelter, owner surrenders are accepted by appointment, except in emergencies.

Community Cats

Community cats are an important part of our community. Through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), colony management resources, and partnerships with local organizations, we work to humanely reduce community cat populations while improving their health and welfare.
