Companion Animal Alliance accepts owner-surrendered pets and found animals by appointment to help ensure every animal receives a thorough health evaluation and appropriate care upon arrival.
Before scheduling an appointment, we encourage you to explore all available alternatives. Many pets can remain safely in their homes or be reunited with their families through community resources, helping reduce the stress of entering a shelter environment.
If you have found a stray animal:
Please first check the surrounding neighborhood where the animal was found. Most lost pets are found close to home.
If it is safe to do so, have the animal scanned for a microchip at a veterinary clinic or pet supply store.
Post the pet on local lost and found pet pages and neighborhood social media groups.
If you are able to temporarily care for the animal while searching for the owner, you significantly increase the chances of a successful reunion.

If you need to surrender your pet:
We understand that life circumstances can change. Our team may be able to provide resources or discuss options that could help you keep your pet in your home whenever possible. If surrender is still the best option, we will work with you to schedule the earliest available appointment.

Animals entering the shelter may experience stress, and length of stay varies depending on health, behavior, and available space.
Companion Animal Alliance is an open-admission shelter and accepts animals regardless of age, breed, medical condition, or behavior, but appointment availability may vary based on current capacity and emergency needs.
If your situation involves an animal that is injured, suffering, aggressive, poses an immediate public safety risk, or is otherwise an emergency, please email intake@caabr.org before scheduling an appointment so we can provide appropriate guidance.
Additionally, we will accept found-stray walk-ins from 8:30 to 9:30 am Monday through Friday.
