Job Purpose:
- The FT Animal Caretaker at Companion Animal Alliance is responsible for providing high-quality care and support to the animals within the facility. This position is crucial in ensuring the well-being, safety, and comfort of all animals, while also assisting with the daily operations and maintenance of the animal care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care to animals, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring their health and behavior.
- Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in animal housing areas and ensure all equipment is functioning properly.
- Assist in the intake and assessment of new animals, including conducting health checks and documenting any medical or behavioral concerns.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff to administer medications and treatments as needed.
- Engage in regular enrichment activities to promote the physical and mental well-being of the animals.
- Support the adoption process by providing potential adopters with information about the animals and their care needs.
- Monitor and report any changes in animal behavior or health to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on best practices in animal care and welfare.
- Assist with community outreach programs and events to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational policies related to animal care and safety.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience:
- Previous experience working with animals in a professional setting, such as a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or pet boarding facility.
- Familiarity with animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Experience in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in animal care environments.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners, colleagues, and veterinarians.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately, ensuring their well-being.
- Proficiency in recognizing signs of illness or distress in animals and taking appropriate action.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, cleaning, and caring for animals.
- Organizational skills to manage daily tasks and schedules efficiently.
- Attention to detail in monitoring animal health and maintaining accurate records.
