This position supervises and manages: Facilities Specialist 

Description: 

The Facilities Manager plays a critical role in shaping the public's perception of the CAA by ensuring that our shelter facility is maintained to the highest standards. Your commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment is vital for promoting a positive and professional image of CAA, while also safeguarding the health and well-being of our staff and the animals in our care.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • The Facilities Manager should always maintain a well kept and clean facility. Proper maintenance includes daily debris removal inside and outside of the building, maintenance of items that need repair, including walls, floors, ceilings, lighting. Continuous monitoring and upkeep of play yards.  Anything that appears not to be functioning properly should either be repaired or reported to higher management levels immediately, so it can be addressed

  • Supervise and assist Facilities Specialist in daily sweeping and mopping of the lobby and employee entrance and other areas that need cleaning, maintains hand sanitizers throughout the building, Clean windows, collects and disposes waste, clean and sanitize bathrooms daily. 

  • Provides maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing, HVAC, and sewer systems. Maintains air filters for heating and air conditioning, inspects the washers and dryers, ensuring proper use of laundry/grooming rooms.

  • Train CAA staff on the proper usage and protection of CAA equipment.

  • Manage tracking all valuable assets of CAA.

  • Consult with vendors, contractors and repair personnel to maintain the building.

  • Creates schedule of service contracts and building inspections executed by Operations Director.

  • Keep an inventory of manuals and warranties for building equipment, including architect plans for the building for future use if needed.

  • Manage inventory of CAA vehicles, maintenance records, repairs, routine oil changes and inspections as needed.

  • Maintain inventory of necessary supplies for the Facility and Fleet Department.

  • Direct and supervise appropriate tasks for community service workers.

  • Ensure all proper PPE is being used by Facilities and Fleet Team.

  • Maintain all records of repair and maintenance work conducted at CAA. 

  • Assist in other departments as needed.

  • On call for after hours emergencies 24/7

Knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Follow the mission of CAA.

  • Be familiar with all shelter Standard Operating Procedures and the Employee Manual.

  • Self-starter.

  • Working knowledge of breeds, diseases, medical conditions and animal handling and behavior.

  • Ability to handle animals safely and with patience and gentleness.

  • Ability to represent CAA in a professional manner in all situations with the public, volunteers and staff.

  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships within CAA, with volunteers, the public and be a team player.

  • Must be patient, courteous and work well under stressful conditions.

  • Knowledge and ability to accurately work with detailed information in paper and computerized format.

  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

  • Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures.

  • Familiarity with basic word processing systems and medical data and management programs

  • Required Professional Licensing or Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Louisiana State Driver’s License

  • While performing job duties employees may work near live animals, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes related to cleaning chemicals, and airborne particles.

Required Professional Licensing or Certifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Louisiana State Driver’s License
