New shelter opening soon!

Companion Animal Alliance’s new shelter is scheduled to open in the fall of 2018, bringing a bright and welcoming state-of-the-art facility to Baton Rouge animals and pet owners. Our new location near LSU’s Vet School will be convenient for adopters, families looking for lost pets, and volunteers. The proximity to LSU's campus provides a unique opportunity for LSU Vet School students to increase their important rotations, gaining hands-on surgical and diagnostic experience that is unavailable in most vet schools. This sizable upgrade will provide greater room for dogs to run outdoors, and cats with a calm, soundproof space with an outdoor view. The new shelter is designed to contain diseases and promote a healthier and more welcoming environment for all types of animals. CAA looks forward to welcoming the Baton Rouge community to its new home for lost animals!

The opportunity to move from the shelter's current location near the airport has been a goal of Companion Animal Alliance since its inception in 2011. This effort could not have been a reality without the generous support of the Baton Rouge community. Fundraising for the new shelter began in 2016, led by Charlie Lamar and Henson Moore. From there, more than $12 Million was raised, including important in-kind gifts, enabling the acquisition of the site location, design, and construction.

The entire project is privately funded and we still welcome all gifts, large and small to assist with the relocation. Naming opportunities are available. Please use the link below to show your support.
